Chris has a genuine interest in and overall strategic view of our operation. Agronomic recommendations are made with future profitability taken into consideration. This is essential for making long term decisions.
He was invaluable when we were looking to expand our beef business and buy more country. He very quickly outlined the economic potential of land and allowed us to make wise investment decisions.

Just under two years ago we purchased our first rural property in the Southern Highlands.
We consulted with Chris prior to the purchase at which time he did not resile from giving us an honest appraisal of the huge task ahead if we wished to develop a working entity. We have utilised the services of Chris since that time. We have found him to be not only extremely knowledgeable but a great communicator and very patient, and far more structured and easier to understand than the others we met at the time.
Chris determined the time line for all activities such as spraying, fertilising and the other tasks needed to ensure successful crops, and arranged the necessary contractors to get the work done on time. Our first oats crops have been magnificent and we look forward to working with Chris going forward as we undertake further crop and pasture sowing. Chris has outlined the agronomy program several years ahead and provided us with the execution plan.
Chris’ attention to detail, strong administrative skills and product knowledge make him the ideal person to be involved in a “start up”. He has made a sound contribution to the development of our farm.

As new entrants to the agricultural industry, Chris guided us through pre-purchase aspects of our property, then created a pasture improvement plan to enable us to embark on our ambition to commence livestock grazing.
The support and guidance Chris has given us over the past 18 months has been instrumental in seeing an extraordinary transformation of our property enabling it to come closer to reaching full potential.

“Chris Houghton from AGRI STRATEGIES has become an integral part of our mixed farming operation. Going into a growth phase it was quite clear that we needed to take many areas to the next level to meet business and staff needs.
Chris has delivered a finance tracking and planning system, upgraded our WHS procedures and policy, and instigated a potato seedstock tracking program. Improved networking between other producers and industry people is also a big bonus of having Chris involved in our business. For our business, effective planning – Good procedures – The right people = PROFIT”

“I have known and worked with Chris Houghton over many years as an educator and advisor. He is very knowledgeable and professional and has a passion for agriculture.
I have benefitted from Chris’ advice both in management and agronomy. This has led to increased production and sustainability on my farm.
Chris was a driving force in the establishment of TFS – Tablelands Farming Systems, producer group, and continues to have a major input into the Soil Club and pasture trials.
From my personal experience I highly recommend Chris as an agricultural consultant. His advice has been important for the success of my business.”
